THE FRUITS OF POWER: NRA, LRA, Decades of Bloodshed & Starvation in Northern Uganda (The blurrered Light from West Series Book 2)
About
When civil war gripped Northern Uganda in 1986, the international community echoed... the war Waged for two decades left one of worst atrocities and crimes against humanity to the people of North since World War II: caused by both Museveni’s NRA, and Konny’s LRA. Displacing nearly two million people and killing tens of thousands. At least 100,000 civilians were killed; Up to 1.9 million people were internally displaced and forced into government-run IDP camps. Estimated 66,000 children were forced to become soldiers, porters, or sex slaves. The forced displacement created a humanitarian crisis, with hundreds of thousands of people living in squalid and dangerous conditions in IDP camps for more than a decade. But unfortunately, the prosecution focused exclusively on the crimes of Konny’s LRA extremists. No charges would be brought against the Museveni’s-led National Resistance Army (NRA) during the course of war. The UN, ICC , ICJ, and other international bodies as if racked by guilt for its past inaction, gave in to pressure Uganda’s new leadership but instead focused to work on collaboration grounds. With everyone effectively silenced, truth labeled to one given as “Kony’s Sycophants” and the truth about war completely buried. The public discourse on the Northern Uganda war has often focused disproportionately on the extreme brutality of the LRA and Kony. This has overshadowed the significant body of evidence regarding government forces’ abuses. The International Criminal Court’s (ICC) involvement in the Uganda situation faced significant weaknesses regarding the accountability of the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF). Despite documenting some UPDF abuses, the ICC did not pursue investigations into their crimes. Many of the most severe atrocities committed by the National Resistance Army (NRA) occurred in the 1980s and 1990s, predating the ICC’s authority. This placed large-scale abuses against civilians outside the ICC’s scope. Focusing only on crimes committed after 2002 distorted the historical narrative of the conflict. It ignored the preceding NRA/UPDF crimes that contributed to the LRA insurgency and civilian suffering. Therefore, Much like Other genocides and conflicts, international intervention is needed, Fresh investigation from international bodies or independent investigative teams is necessary to gather specific evidence from Witness testimonies, Forensic evidences, Command responsibilities, Links to other conflicts, Army tactics used in those conflicts to prosecute suspected war crimes committed by members of Uganda’s National Resistance Army (NRA), Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) and Rebel factions because current Uganda’s military justice system have hindered domestic accountabilities in most of conflicts and The Author while collecting testimonies, Fear of reprisal was one of major notable case. Victims and witnesses face significant risks of persecution or reprisal for cooperating with investigators. Survivors and Witness protection must be addressed if we’re to stop Africa’s virulent cycle of violence. This second book in Blurred Light from West Series main central focus, is to unmask the atrocities, war crimes and crimes against humanity, Massacres Mutilation, Rape, abductions, arbitrary arrest and detention, physical and emotional scars left, Murder, sexual slavery, Indoctrination, caused by Both Parties NRA/UPDF and LRA to people of Northern Uganda between 1986 and 2006 With children as primary victims.
